Metal particles come in many different sizes, shapes and metallurgy. How does unwanted metal get into our materials and products?  Within raw materials such as in a field or forest. Fittings, tools and implements can also fall in during transport, handling, machine maintenance and processing of materials. 

Unwanted metals can cause product rejection, factory downtime, harm to personnel and consumers, as well as damage and destruction of equipment and machinery downstream. It's never worth ignoring!

Magnets are a simple and effective way of capturing ferrous materials. For everything else there are alternatives such as metal detectors, eddy current separators and X-ray detectors. All of these are more costly and not needed if a permanent or electromagnet can attract and hold unwanted metals.
